# Focuser - Terms of Service
**Effective Date: December 7, 2025**
These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of the Focuser app ("the App"), developed by Chai Technologies, available on the iOS App Store. By downloading, installing, or using the App, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the App.
## 1. Description of Service
The App is a minimalistic daily goal tracker that helps you define, track, and complete daily goals (1-6 per day). Features include:
- Daily goal setting and tracking
- Morning and evening reminder notifications
- Goal completion checkboxes with optional reflection notes
- Automatic day closure at midnight
- Streak tracking (current and longest)
- Weekly and yearly completion statistics
- 10-year data retention
- CSV export functionality
## 2. License and Use
- **License**: Chai Technologies grants you a non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use the App for personal, non-commercial purposes on an iOS device you own or control, subject to these Terms and Apple App Store rules.
- **Eligibility**: You must be at least 13 years old to use the App and have the legal capacity to agree to these Terms.
- **Restrictions**: You may not: (a) modify, reverse-engineer, or distribute the App; (b) use it for illegal purposes; (c) attempt unauthorized access to its code or data; or (d) interfere with its functionality.
## 3. No Warranties or Guarantees
- **As-Is Basis**: The App is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties, express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, or reliability. We do not guarantee uninterrupted service, error-free operation, or specific productivity or personal development outcomes.
- **No Promises**: Chai Technologies makes no promises about performance, results, or suitability for your needs.
- **Goal Tracking**: The App provides tools for tracking personal goals and is not a substitute for professional productivity coaching, therapy, or medical advice.
- **Compatibility**: The App requires iOS 17.0 or later and compatible devices.
## 4. Personal Responsibility Disclaimer
The App is a tool for tracking daily goals and building habits. While goal setting and habit tracking can support personal development, results depend on your individual effort, circumstances, and commitment. You are responsible for your own goal-setting decisions and actions. The App does not guarantee productivity improvements or specific outcomes.
## 5. Limitation of Liability
- **No Liability**: To the fullest extent permitted by law, Chai Technologies, its affiliates, and licensors (including providers of licensed AI tools used in development, such as ChatGPT, Cursor, and Claude, used under paid licenses) shall not be liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, consequential, or special damages arising from your use of the App, including data loss or device issues.
- **User Responsibility**: You assume all risks associated with using the App, including reliance on its features or data. You are responsible for backing up data and securing your device.
- **Force Majeure**: We are not liable for events beyond our control (e.g., system failures, natural disasters).
## 6. Intellectual Property
- **Ownership**: The App, its code, design, and content (including the "Focuser" name and trademarks) are owned by Chai Technologies or its licensors and protected by copyright and intellectual property laws. The App was developed using licensed AI tools (ChatGPT, Cursor, and Claude), in compliance with their licensing terms.
- **User Data**: You retain ownership of your goal data, stored locally on your device using Core Data.
- **Feedback**: If you provide feedback or suggestions, you grant Chai Technologies a perpetual, worldwide, royalty-free license to use and incorporate them into the App without compensation.
## 7. Data and Privacy
- **Local Storage**: All goal data, day entries, streaks, settings, and preferences are stored locally on your device using Core Data. No data is synced to external servers or cloud services.
- **No Tracking**: The App does not collect analytics or track personal information beyond what is required for core functionality.
- **Data Management**: You are responsible for backing up your data. Deleting the App removes all locally stored data.
- **CSV Export**: You can export your data to CSV format for your own records.
## 8. Termination
- **By You**: You may stop using the App by uninstalling it, which deletes all local data.
- **By Us**: We may suspend or terminate access to the App for violations of these Terms or at our discretion, with or without notice.
- **Effect**: Upon termination, your license to use the App ends, and you must uninstall it.
## 9. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of Finland, without regard to conflict of law principles. Any disputes will be resolved in the courts of Helsinki, Finland. If any provision is invalid, the remaining provisions remain in effect.
## 10. Changes to Terms
We may update these Terms to reflect changes in the App or legal requirements. Updates will be posted in the App or on our website (if applicable). Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
